Quick Guide: Choosing the Right Calming Tool
Bedtime battle or after-school meltdown — same tool?
Not always. A weighted blanket is built for winding down at night. A compression vest or crash pad is often a better fit for the after-school crash, since it works while a child is still moving around the house.
What if my child needs something discreet for school?
Look for compression garments or lap pads sized for classroom use — our product pages note which tools are quiet and low-profile enough for school versus home-only use.
What if it doesn't work for my child?
We offer a 30-day return window on eligible items — see our Refund Policy for full details. If you're unsure before buying, our team can help you choose during a consultation.
Earl's OT Note
In session, deep pressure and compression are some of the most reliable tools we reach for when a child's nervous system is overwhelmed. The right tool isn't about the biggest squeeze — it's about matching the input to what that specific child's body is asking for.
"We truly cannot say enough good things about Sensory Therapy Place. Our son has been coming here for a while now... the progress he has made has been nothing short of incredible. The atmosphere is so calming the moment you walk in. It doesn't feel clinical or overwhelming. It feels safe."
